It has come to our attention that some TaxAct Professional customers who are awaiting EFIN verification from TaxAct and originally provided us with an EFIN Acceptance Letter from the IRS are seeing delays in their EFIN verification.
When we receive an EFIN Acceptance Letter for verification purposes, we use the IRS ERO locator database to verify certain information in the Acceptance Letter to confirm the active status of your EFIN. Unfortunately, the IRS ERO locator database does not appear to be functioning correctly; we feel this may be due to the recent government shutdown. We have notified the IRS and they are looking into this issue.
In the meantime, if you are awaiting EFIN verification from TaxAct and originally provided us with an EFIN Acceptance Letter from the IRS, we recommend you upload your completed IRS e-File Application Summary ending with the Tracking Number. This should enable us to move forward with processing your EFIN verification. For step-by-step instructions on printing your IRS e-File Application Summary, view our FAQ, Access or Print the Application Summary from IRS e-Services.
After printing your Application Summary, you can resubmit your EFIN documentation for verification by following the steps below:
- From within your TaxAct account, click the Practice Administration tile.
- Expand the EFIN Verification section, then click Update next to the pending EFIN submission.
- Click Choose File to locate and attach your IRS e-file Application Summary in PDF or image format.
- Check the box to indicate you are authorized to submit this information, and click Submit.
