The IRS MeF Production and Assurance Testing System (ATS) environments are once again fully operational. The unscheduled maintenance is complete. TaxAct Professional is transmitting returns that have queued on our systems while the IRS was unavailable and you should be receiving acknowledgements back from the IRS for those returns within the next couple of hours. IRS Modernized e-File (MeF) Unscheduled Maintenance Window

The IRS has announced their MeF Production and Assurance Testing System (ATS) environments are currently unavailable due to unscheduled maintenance. In the meantime, you can continue to submit returns and we will hold them for transmission to the IRS until their systems are again available. Generally when this happens, it can take several hours to process all the returns and receive acknowledgements back from the IRS, so you will not see an EF Status immediately. Treasury, IRS unveil online application to help with Economic Impact Payments

Working with the Treasury Department, the Internal Revenue Service today unveiled the new Get My Payment with features to let taxpayers check on their Economic Impact Payment date and update direct deposit information. With an initial round of more than 80 million Economic Impact Payments starting to hit bank accounts over the weekend and throughout this week, this new tool will help address key common questions. To help millions of people, the Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service today launched a new web tool allowing quick registration for Economic Impact Payments for those who don’t normally file a tax return. Scam Alert: Fake “IRS” email

The IRS has identified a new version of a phishing email scam targeting tax professionals. The fake email states the preparer’s EFIN has been put on a temporarily hold and warns the EFIN will be suspended unless the preparers open an embedded document and confirm or deny that they submitted the Form 1040. The embedded “1040” document likely contains malware. The IRS reminds all tax professionals that they are targets of cybercriminals seeking to steal client data or the practitioners’ identities.
