Checking the Status of E-Filed Returns in TaxAct Professional
As we close in on the final push before the April tax filing deadline, we want to pass along some quick tips on how to efficiently track your clients’ e-filed returns.
We suggest utilizing the Fed EF Status column in Client Manager as a quick and easy way to check the status of your client’s e-filed returns. This is a more timely way to receive the status of your e-filed returns, since e-file status emails may be delayed during peak times leading up to the filing deadline.
Quick Tip: If you don’t see a return status appear in the Fed EF Status column within 15 minutes of submitting a ret...

Alert Added to Require Form 8867 with Head-of-Household Returns

If any of your client’s returns had head of household filing status selected but did NOT contain the earned income credit, child tax credit, and/or American opportunity credit, you may have filed the returns without Form 8867. The IRS has explained that no further action is required, as they ...

IRS Grants Extension of 03/01 Deadline for Farmers and Fishermen to Make Estimated Tax Payment
The IRS is granting an extension of the March 1st deadline for farmers and fishermen to make their estimated tax payment before being subject to estimated tax penalties – as long as they file and pay the full amount of tax reported on their 2018 return by April 15, 2019 (or by April 17, 2019, for those taxpayers who live in Maine or Massachusetts).
The IRS is providing this relief because, due to certain rule changes, many farmers and fishermen may have difficulty accurately determining their tax liability by the March 1 deadline that usually applies to them. For tax year 2018, an individua...
